Huskers Earn ITA, Big Ten Awards

Lincoln, Neb. -- The Nebraska men's tennis team and some of its student-athletes earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and Big Ten Conference awards for their academic performance in the 2019-20 season, as announced recently by both organizations.

Patrick Cacciatore, Bradley Mittleman, Victor Moreno Lozano and Shunya Maruyama were named to the 2020 ITA Division I Men's Scholar Athlete List, in which students must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.

As a team, the Huskers earned ITA All-Academic honors -- the qualifications include a grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale).

Finally, rising junior Moreno earned the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award, which recognizes student-athletes with a GPA of 3.70 or above (on a 4.00 scale). The biological systems engineering major from Madrid, Spain, also took a spot on the Academic All-Big Ten team -- joined by Chris Dean and William Gleason

Nebraska had tremendous academic success in 2019-20, with a department-wide record graduation rate and an all-time NCAA-leading 340 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans across all sports.
