Two Gymnasts Named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars

Evan Hymanson and Josh Martin each earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar accolades, as the conference announced its honorees on Wednesday.

Hymanson, who appeared in all five meets during a shortened 2020 season, is majoring in mechanical engineering. This is Hymanson's third time earning this honor. Along with being named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, Hymanson has also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors, COSIDA Academic All-District, Nebraska Gold Academic Medallion and a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. 

Martin, who appeared in two meets during hte shortened 2020 season, also is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, CGA All-America Scholar-Athlete and earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete honor roll for the past five semesters. Martin is a software engineer major. 

To be eligible for Big Ten Distinguished Scholar selection, student-athletes must be a recipient of Academic All-Big Ten recognition in the previous academic year, must have been enrolled full-time at the institution for the entire previous academic year and earned a minimum GPA of 3.70 or better during the previous academic year.
