Troyer Punches Ticket to NCAA Championships

The Nebraska swimming and diving team adds another athlete to the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga.

Diver Sara Troyer continues to have an outstanding sophomore campaign as she heads to NCAA's for the first time in her career. She achieves the accomplishment after placing fourth overall in the three meter dive on Tuesday afternoon.

After the first round of competition, Troyer sat in seventh place (311.10), before moving up three more places to finish the final round in fourth (653.10).

Troyer will also compete in the one meter dive, after finishing in 11th place just a day prior (543.30).

Troyer continues the streak of Husker divers making an appearance at the NCAA Championships, dating back to 2014 when Anna Filipcic qualified.

Troyer will join Madison Coughlen and Autumn Haebig at the Championships in Georgia taking place Wednesday, March 18 through Saturday, March 21.

Head Coach Pablo Morales is excited about the work that Sara Troyer has put in this season.

"Sara has blossomed this year into a top level diver and the final round showed that she compete against the top divers in the nation. Sara's addition to the NCAA squad with swimmers Autumn and Madison give us our most NCAA qualifiers in 20 years. Audrey Coffey sits at number two on the alternate list so there is a chance that she can get pulled into the meet."
