Ben Stille Quotes - March 9, 2020

Ben Stille
SENIOR | DEFENSIVE LINEMAN

On who was out on the first play
"It rotates a lot throughout practice. Ty Robinson was out there a little bit. Damion Daniels was out there. Casey Rogers was out there. We don't really have a real set one-two rotation for spring ball so it rotates a lot."

On being a senior
"It goes fast for sure. Seems like I was just a freshman. I definitely feel a lot of responsibility to bring a lot of those young guys along. We are pretty young in general as far as playing time goes so just being able to bring those guys along. I think that will be my biggest responsibility."

On the personality of the team
"I think the traits we are trying to implement into just our culture is as a whole is toughness. Gritty. Competitiveness. Those are three things we are really trying to hone in on."

On the nose tackle position
"Damion [Daniels] is in there for the brunt work. Ty Robinson can swing in there a little bit. I think he will probably be a swing guy for us. Jordan Riley for sure. Taking reps in there. I think we will have a couple of guys swing back and forth."

On toughness, gritty, competitiveness and their importance
"I think toughness is most important of all of them. Just big physical teams we play. If we don't have toughness we won't be able to hold up. Especially up front. But yeah that will be most important."

On Jordan Riley
"He is coming in here with a good attitude. Really wanted to work. He has gotten a lot bigger. Put on about 20 pounds at least with [Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Zach] Duval so that was good to get him in the weight room. He has made a good impression so far."

On the guys who are in their second year
"Ty [Robinson] in particular, his growth has been pretty rapid. A lot of those guys came in and played a little bit. I think the four game rule is pretty crucial. Guys have something to look forward to and know they have an opportunity to maybe play throughout the year versus knowing their not going to play a snap. I think that is big. Just in terms of development and just your mental state. But yeah I think they have accelerated their growth."

On the off-season mentally
"I wouldn't say anything different, just get back to work. Got back to work sooner than we had in the past as far as drills and everything. A lot of guys were hungry knowing that we left a lot out on the table last year. Losing games last year that we know we shouldn't have. That is definitely a motivator. Just to win games that we know we can. We know we should. Be competing in all the games."

On the Nebraska football spotlight
"Either way it doesn't really matter I guess, but it can be an advantage to lay low and be the underdog in a lot of scenarios. It can pay off."
