Huskers Fire Third-Highest Score in Program History to Defeat No. 4 Akron

Akron, Ohio - The No. 7 Nebraska Rifle team defeated No. 4 Akron in Akron, Ohio, today by a final match score of 4,687-4,677. The Huskers' mark of 4,687 is tied for the third-highest overall score in program history.
 
The Huskers took the lead in smallbore with a team score of 2,329. Hana Musser led the Huskers with 588, followed by Elena Flake with 579. Macey Way fired 585 and Emily Cheramie added 577. Samantha Peterson fired 573 to round out the squadded scores.
 
Musser was out front for the Huskers in air rifle, firing 591 to lead the team to a total score of 2,358. She was followed closely by Way, Flake and Cheramie, who all shot 589. Aletto fired 579 to round out the squadded scores. Musser's total combined score of 1,179 was highest on the day for either team and a career high.
 
Akron fired a combined smallbore score of 2,318, led by Lauryn Cinadr's 583. In air rifle the Zips shot 2,359, led by Kera Kauffman, who fired a match-high 594.
 
The Huskers are back in action next weekend for the last dual match of the season when the team travels to Oxford, Miss., to take on Ole Miss on Feb. 14. That match will begin at 8 a.m. and fans can follow on social media.
