Huskers Welcome Shockers to Lincoln

Lincoln, Neb.—The Nebraska women's tennis team welcomes the Wichita State Shockers to the Dillon Tennis Center for a dual on Saturday, Feb. 29 at Noon. Free breakfast will be provided to the first 100 fans at Saturday's match.

Saturday's match will be played outdoors, weather permitting. 

Last Time Out
The Huskers return home after a midweek win over Rutgers on the road. NU took down the Scarlet Knights 6-1 in East Brunswick, N.J.

Scouting Wichita State
The Shockers currently have a 3-8 record on the year and are set to face UMKC on Thursday evening, before traveling to Lincoln. Of their losses, five of them come at the hands of ranked opponents, including No. 14 Oklahoma State and No. 26 Arizona State. 

In 2019, WSU was 14-10 overall, including a 6-4 record at home. On Feb. 22, the Shockers defeated No. 29 SMU, 4-3, and recorded a convincing 6-1 win over No. 39 Gonzaga on March 11. 

Historically, NU leads the series by a margin of 20-14. Last season, the Shockers beat Nebraska 4-1 at the Dillon Tennis Center.

  • Chloe Kuckelman has competed in and finished a singles match in every dual this season. The freshman from Overland Park, Kan., is 7-4 on the year with wins coming primarily out of the No. 3 and No. 4 spots. 
  • Since pairing up on Feb. 14, Hayley Haakenstad and Kristina Novak are 3-1 at the No.1 doubles spot, including a 6-2 over Stevie Kennedy and Chloe Hule of TCU as well as a 6-3 win over No. 45 Thasaporn Naklo and Christin Hsieh of Iowa State.
