The Nebraska women's tennis team (7-3, 0-0 Big Ten) is set to travel to East Brunswick, N.J. for its first Big Ten matchup against Rutgers on Wednesday. The match will begin at 12:30 p.m. CT with live stats and a live stream available.
NU is coming off a 2-0 weekend at the Dillon Tennis Center following wins over Colorado State and Iowa State. On Friday, the Huskers dominated the Rams, 6-1 after earning the doubles point and five singles wins. On Sunday morning, Nebraska took care of business against Iowa State with a 5-2 win.
Nebraska has found consistency in the doubles game, picking up two wins over ranked opponents over the weekend. Kristina Novak and Hayley Haakenstad improved to 2-1 over the weekend following a 6-3 win over the No. 45 team of Thasaporn Naklo and Christin Hsieh of Iowa State.
Isabel Adrover Gallego and Claire Reifeis earned a win at the No. 1 spot defeating No. 60 Stella Cliffe and Emily Luetschwager of Colorado State, 6-1.
Chloe and Ellie Kuckelman went 1-1 over the weekend, including a 6-3 triumph over Margarita TImakova and Chie Kezuka of Iowa State.
Haakenstad Remains Unbeaten
Haakenstad earned two wins over the weekend to improve to 4-0 on the season. The senior from Chanhassen, Minn., holds wins at the No. 4, 5, and 6 spots in the lineup.
Scouting Rutgers
The Scarlet Knights are 7-2 on the year, including wins over Army and UPenn. In Big Ten play, Rutgers suffered a 5-2 loss to Maryland at home.
Tess Fisher holds a 6-3 record on the year, primarily playing out of the No. 1 spot. Paired with Sydney Kaplan, the duo is 5-2 at the No. 2 spot.
In 2019, Rutgers went 9-12 overall, including a 4-3 win over the Huskers in Lincoln. Historically, Nebraska leads the series 3-1. The Scarlet Knights are led by fourth-year Head Coach Hilary Ritchie. Former Big Ten Player of the Year and Michigan alum, Kate Fahey, joins the Rutgers staff as a first-year Volunteer Assistant Coach.
