Raleigh, N.C. - The Nebraska Rifle team defeated No. 12 North Carolina State in Raleigh, N.C., today by a final match score of 4,685-4,663. Sophomore Elena Flake was the top individual shooter for the match as the Huskers took down the Wolfpack.
In smallbore Emily Cheramie led the Huskers with 584, followed by Flake with 581. Hana Musser fired 580 and Macey Way added 576. Bailey Powell fired 565 to round out the squadded scores.
Flake was out front for the Huskers in air rifle, firing 594. She was followed closely by Way with 593. Musser and Cheramie fired 589 and 588, respectively. Powell shot 587 to round out the squadded scores. Flake's total combined score of 1,175 was highest on the day for either team, followed by Cheramie in second with 1,172.
North Carolina State fired a combined smallbore score of 2,304, led by Makenzie Sheffield's 578. In air rifle the Wolfpack shot 2,359, led by Aliya Butt, who fired 589.
The Huskers are back in action next weekend when the team travels to Akron, Ohio, to take on Akron on Feb. 8. That match will begin at 8 a.m. and fans can follow on social media.
