Huskers Top TCU, Fall to No. 16 UCF

Orlando, Fla., --The Nebraska women's tennis team concluded play at the USTA National Campus on Sunday afternoon following a 4-0 win over TCU and a 4-0 loss to No. 16 UCF. The Huskers move to 5-3 on the year after Sunday's matches.

The Huskers kicked things off with a dominant performance against TCU. On Friday evening, NU defeated the Horned Frogs in doubles competition to earn a 1-0 lead entering Sunday morning's singles competition. 

Isabel Adrover Gallego earned her first singles win of the season with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 display over TCU's Kate Paulus at No. 3.

Ellie Kuckelman extended the Husker lead to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Margaret Polk at No. 6. Chloe Kuckelman closed things out for NU with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 triumph against Chloe Hull at the No. 4 spot. 

In Sunday's second matchup, NU suffered a 4-0 to No. 16 UCF on their home courts.

After dropping the doubles point, NU was unable to pick up a win in singles play. Chloe Kuckelman fell at the No. 4 spot to Mattel 6-3, 6-0. Reifeis lost to Valeriya Zeleva 6-4, 6-3, at the No. 1 spot. UCF clinched the match as Kristina Novak dropped her match at No. 2 to Evgeniya Levashova 6-4, 6-4.

The Huskers return home to the Dillon Tennis Center for a pair of matches on Feb. 21stand Feb. 23. NU will take on Colorado State Friday evening at 5 p.m. and Iowa State on Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
