Huskers Fall to UCSB, Win Doubles Point Against TCU

Orlando, Fla.,-- The Nebraska women's tennis team fell to Santa Barbara Friday afternoon at the USTA National Campus. The Huskers fall to 4-2 on the season while UCSB improves to 2-4 on the year.

The Huskers dropped the doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 3 with the same teams used last week against Baylor. A new team played out of the No. 2 spot in Isabel Adrover Gallego and Chloe Kuckelman who trailed 3-5 at the conclusion of doubles play.

At the No. 1 spot, Kristina Novak dropped her first singles match of the season. The freshman from Radovljica, Slovenia, holds a 2-1 mark at the No.1 spot and is 2-0 at No. 2.

At No.2, Claire Reifeis defeated Elizaveta Volodka in straight sets, improving to 2-2 on the year with the win.

Chloe Kuckelman was unable to hold off UCSB's Tiffany Lagarde, falling 6-1, 7-5 at No. 3.

Ellie Kuckelman fell to Anastasia Gonvharova 6-3, 6-4 to seal the match for the Gaucho's, 4-1.

In the evening, Nebraska took on TCU, only competing in the doubles portion of the match. NU got out to a hot start with the Kuckelman twins picking up a 6-2 win at No. 3 and Novak and Hayley Haakenstad earning a 6-2 at No. 1.

The Huskers will be back in action Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. CT when the take on TCU in singles competition, followed by an 11:30 CT matchup against No. 15 UCF.
