Huskers Sign Vivien Sandberg

The Nebraska women's tennis team is set to welcome Vivien Sandberg to its lineup for the 2020-21 season, Head Coach Scott Jacobson and Assistant Coach Jeremy Bayon announced Monday. Sandberg joins the Huskers from Ahaus, Germany, and is the second commit for the 2020-21 season.

"We are extremely excited to have Vivien joining our Husker Family!" Head Coach Jacobson said. "Her women's tennis ranking of 70 in Germany is a testament to her hard work and dedication to the game. Nebraska is getting a committed, dedicated, and passionate individual,who is determined to become the best she can be in every aspect of her life!"

Sandberg currently trains at both the Approach Tennis Academy in Enschede, Netherlands, with coaches Geerco Holtkamp and Add Lüttikhues and at the MKG-Tennis Academy in Cologne, Germany under the tutelage of Marc-Kevin Goellner and his wife Syna Goellner-Schreiber. She holds a German U18 ranking of No. 8. 

Tennis accolades include Westphalia junior singles and doubles champion in 2016. In 2018 Sandberg finished 5that the North-East German Women's Championships. In 2019, Sandberg won the Berlin-Brandenburg team championship as well as a semi-finals doubles appearance, the Oldenzaal ITF 15k.

She currently competes with her club, TC Union Münster.

Sandberg chose Nebraska over Northern Arizona and the University of Memphis.
