Champaign, Ill. - The Nebraska men's gymnastics team fell to Illinois Saturday afternoon 399.950-405.500.
Evan Hymanson lead the Huskers with two event titles. Hymanson tied for first with Illinois gymnast Sebastian Quiana with a score of 13.85 on parallel bars. Griffin Kehler tied with Hymanson on high bar for the title with a score of 13.70.
Despite falling to the Fighting Illini, the Huskers had five gymnasts earn career-high scores.
Rotation One
Nebraska started the meet off on pommel horse. Redshirt freshman Noah Urwiler started the rotation off with a score of 11.80. Freshman Dylan Young followed with a score of 11.15. Cooper Giles notched a 13.60 while Charlie Giles finished with a score of 13.40. Senior Josh Martin scored a 10.95. Sophomore Evan Kriley rounded out the rotation with a score of 13.45.
The Huskers move to the second rotation after posting a 63.40 on pommel horse. Illinois started the meet on floor with a team score of 70.35, their best floor score of the year.
Rotation Two
The Huskers competed on floor for their second rotation where junior Griffin Kehler lead the team with a score of 14.05. Charlie Giles and Jake Bonnay followed both with a score of 13.75. Sam Phillips notched a score of 13.35 while freshman Kenji Tamane finished with a score of 13.35. Junior Zach Peters rounded out the rotation with a score of 12.10. NU finished with a team score of 67.70.
Nebraska went into the third rotation behind Illinois 131.100-135.450.
Rotation Three
NU moved to vault where Charlie Giles lead the team with a career-high score of 14.75. Evan Kriley followed closely with a score of 14.35, a career-high as well. Junior Jonathan Scripnick and Jake Bonnay both notched a 14.00. Sam Phillips finished with a score of 13.95 while Zach Peters finished with a score of 13.90.
The Huskers finished with a team score of 71.05, their highest team score on vault this year. Illinois finished the rotation on still rings with a score of 68.60.
Rotation Four
The Huskers continued to rings where they had a team score of 65.25. Nebraska was lead by Dylan Young who had a score of 13.50. Freshmen Nikita Bolotsky and Kenji Tamane followed both with a score of 13.10. Junior Evan Hymanson notched a 13.05 while Jonathan Scripnick had a score of 11.45. Josh Martin finished the rotation with a score of 12.50.
The Fighting Illini finished rotation four on vault with a team score of 72.15.
Rotation Five
Evan Hymanson and Griffin Kehler led the team on high bar both with a score of 13.70. Nikita Bolotsky followed with a score of 13.05. Sam Phillips notched a 12.80 while Evan Kriley had a score of 12.50. Dillan King rounded out the rotation with a score of 12.45.
Nebraska goes into the final rotation behind 333.150-342.050.
Rotation Six
The Huskers finished on parallel bars where they had a team score of 66.80. Evan Hymanson lead the team with a score of 13.85. Griffin Kehler and Jake Bonnay followed closely with a score of 13.65 and 13.55 respectively. Nikita Bolotsky scored a 12.95 while Dillan King notched a 12.80. Dylan Young rounded out the rotation with a score of 12.30.
The Huskers fall to Illinois 399.850-407.050.
