The Nebraska women's golf team enjoyed a strong weekend of golf in Las Vegas, capped by solid performances at the Las Vegas Four-Way hosted by Long Beach State at the Spanish Trail Golf Club on Monday.
Playing in a two-person, best-ball format, Nebraska's top pair of Kate Smith and Kirsten Baete teamed for a four-under-par 68 to lead the Huskers. The score by Smith/Baete was the fourth-best team score among the 14 groups in the competition. Nebraska's No. 2 duo of Haley Thiele and Noor Ahmed added a three-under 69 for the fifth-best overall score at the event.
Hannah Thiele and Vanessa Bouvet managed a 73, as did Husker teammates Megan Whittaker and Jessica Haraden. Leah Herzog and Nicole Hansen teamed for a 76.
The Huskers open their official spring season at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, P.R., Feb. 9-11.
