Cheramie Leads Huskers to Victory in Annapolis

Annapolis, Md. - The Husker Rifle team defeated No. 8 Navy today in Annapolis, Md., with a final score of 4,671-4,661. NU was led by junior Emily Cheramie, who earned first in the overall individual standings.
 
NU took the early lead in smallbore behind Cheramie's 585. Hana Musser fired 578 and Elena Flake followed with 576. Samantha Peterson shot 573 to round out the squadded scores. The team's total smallbore score was 2,312.
 
In air rifle the Huskers earned a team score of 2,359, led by freshman Macey Way, who fired a career-high 596. Way was followed by Cheramie with 592 and Elena Flake with 587. Peterson and Musser rounded out the squadded scores with 584 and 582, respectively. Although not squadded, Kinga Aletto fired 585.
 
Navy fired a team score of 2,296 in smallbore, led by Torrance Kang with 577. In air rifle, Navy shot a team score of 2,365, led by Gabriella Mayes match-high 597.
 
The Huskers return home next for the final home match of the season against TCU on Jan. 25 at the Nebraska Rifle Range. Match action is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Fans can follow along on huskers.com and on social media.
