Husker Sports Network Features 2010 Champs

Husker Sports Network Originals, presented by J-Tech Construction, released a new podcast on Wednesday, Jan. 15: "Our Team. Our Time. The Story of the 2009-10 Nebraska Women's Basketball Team."

The original one-hour podcast, which was developed and created by long-time Nebraska women's basketball play-by-play announcer Matt Coatney and Husker Sports Network producer Josh Hilkemann, features new, original interviews with Nebraska All-American, 2010 Big 12 Player-of-the-Year and 10-year professional Kelsey Griffin, along with history-making teammates Lindsey Moore, Cory Montgomery, Dominique Kelley and Kala Kuhlmann. The 2010 National Coach-of-the-Year Connie Yori also sat down to talk with Coatney about her memories of Nebraska's most special women's basketball season.

Husker fans can listen to the podcast on any service (Apple, Google, Spotify, Stitcher, SoundCloud, Overcast, etc.), and are encouraged to subscribe to Husker Sports Podcasts to check out past episodes and be notified about upcoming episodes.

The original podcast tells the story of the 2010 Huskers through the words of the players and coaches, and features the authentic play-by-play calls of Coatney as Nebraska marched through the first unbeaten women's basketball regular season in school and Big 12 Conference history.

The 2010 Huskers, who were honored on Nebraska's Weekend of Champions at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Nov. 17, 2019, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their championship season, rolled through a perfect 29-0 regular season, including a 16-0 Big 12 record. Nebraska earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the first Sweet Sixteen in Husker history. Nebraska's unbelievable unbeaten conference season came with a league that featured 2010 NCAA Women's Final Four teams Oklahoma and Baylor with a fourth Big 12 NCAA Sweet Sixteen team in Iowa State. Texas A&M and Oklahoma State also advanced to the NCAA second round, while Texas gave the conference a total of seven NCAA Tournament teams.

Nebraska's record-setting 32-win team posted eight wins over top-25 foes - all by double digits, including five wins over top-15 opponents. Along the way, the women's basketball team fueled a fan frenzy that attracted an average home crowd of 11,385 through Nebraska's eight conference games at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, culminating with a postgame trophy presentation in front of a sellout crowd of 13,595 in a win over Missouri on Feb. 27, 2010.
