Spanish-Language Radio Call to Debut on Saturday

Nebraska Athletics and the Husker Sports Network are excited to announce that Saturday's Homecoming game with Northwestern will feature a Spanish-language radio broadcast in addition to the English broadcast led by Greg Sharpe, Matt Davison and Ben McLaughlin.

The Spanish broadcast will be available for free on Huskers.com and the Huskers app and will be carried over the air on Lobo 97.7 FM serving Omaha, Lincoln and eastern Nebraska and Le Grand 93.3 FM serving Grand Island and central. Enrique "Kike" Morales and Oscar "El Tico" Monterroso will call the game, with Morales describing the play-by-play and Monterroso adding color commentary. Morales and Monterroso serve as the Spanish-language announcing crew for the Kansas City Chiefs, in partnership with Tico Sports.

Saturday will mark the first non-English broadcast of a Nebraska game for both Nebraska Athletics and the Husker Sports Network.

"This broadcast is an exciting opportunity to introduce new fans to Husker Football and grow the listenership of the Husker Sports Network," Husker Sports Network General Manager David Witty said.
"We want to thank Andy Ruback with Flood Communications and Alan Usher with Hometown Family Radio for helping us bring this broadcast to listeners of their stations.  We also want to thank Tico Sports, specifically Enrique Morales and Oscar Monterroso, for bringing experienced and professional football broadcasting to the Husker Sports Network, to ensure we are providing the best possible broadcast."

"We are excited to bring a Spanish-Language radio broadcast to Husker fans in Nebraska and around the world for our game with Northwestern," Nebraska Athletic Director Bill Moos said. "The timing is especially fitting with the game falling in National Hispanic Heritage Month and as a part of the University's Homecoming festivities.  This broadcast is an important step in making sure we engage a growing demographic of Nebraska's population and welcome all fans to Husker Nation."

Saturday's Spanish broadcast will begin with a pregame show at 2:45 p.m., leading up to the 3 p.m. kickoff.
