#ProBigRed: Huskers in the NFL - Week 17

Several Huskers made an impact in Week 17 of the 2019 NFL season.

Lavonte David (Buccaneers) made headlines on Saturday, recording his 1,000th career tackle in the first minutes of the game against the Falcons. With his first tackle of the day, David became one of six active NFL players with 1,000 tackles in a career and he is just the fourth Buccaneer in program history to reach 1,000 tackles.

David also joined Ray Lewis in the record books, becoming only the second player in NFL history to record 1,000 tackles, 20.0 sacks and 10 interceptions through eight seasons since sacks became an official stat in 1982.

Nathan Gerry (Eagles) was another Blackshirt that stood out over the weekend, tallying up eight tackles (five defensively and three on special teams) against the Giants. Gerry was also responsible for one tackle for loss.

Offensively, several Huskers played important roles on the offensive line and helped their respective teams roll up over 280 yards of offense. Nick Gates helped the Giants rack up 423 yards of offense (122 yards rushing, 301 yards passing), Spencer Long assisted the Bills in gaining 310 yards offensively (237 yards passing, 73 yards rushing) and Brent Qvale aided the Jets in piling up 285 yards (86 yards rushing, 199 yards passing).

Sam Koch (Ravens) continued being the special teams standout, punting three times for 140 yards and averaging 46.7 yards per boot on Sunday. His longest punt of the day was 54 yards and he pinned the Steelers inside their own 20 on all three occasions.
