#ProBigRed: Huskers in the NFL - Week 16

Several Huskers made an impact in Week 16 of the 2019 NFL season.

Rex Burkhead (Patriots) scored the most points for the former Huskers, scoring on a one-yard touchdown scamper late in the fourth quarter to put the Patriots up by a touchdown. The Patriots defeated the Bills 24-17 on Saturday and Burkhead accounted for 97 yards offensively. He caught four passes for 77 yards and rushed five times for 20 yards in the victory.

Nick Gates (Giants) also shined on Sunday, leading the Giants to a 41-35 overtime victory over the Redskins. Gates assisted New York in racking up 558 yards of offense (352 yards passing and 206 yards rushing).

Will Compton (Raiders) and Lavonte David (Buccaneers) were the top Blackshirts in the NFL over the weekend. Compton led the Raiders to a 24-17 win over the Chargers on Sunday and had a game-high 12 tackles on defense. David recorded 10 tackles, a quarterback hurry and forced a fumble in the Buccaneers' 23-20 loss to the Texans on Saturday.

Sam Koch (Ravens) led the Huskers on special teams, punting twice on Sunday and averaging 51.0 yards per boot. His longest punt of the day was 60 yards and he pinned the Browns inside their own 20-yard line on one occasion. Koch and the Ravens topped the Browns 31-15 on Sunday.

Buffalo Bills (L, 24-17 at Patriots)
OL Spencer Long: Played in six offensive snaps and was in for three special team opportunities.

   
   

New England Patriots (W, 24-17 vs. Bills)
RB Rex Burkhead: Rushed five times for 20 yards and had a one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to put the Patriots up, 24-17. Burkhead also hauled in four receptions for 77 yards. He was in for 64 percent of the plays on special teams, while also participating in 26 percent of the offensive snaps.



   

New York Jets (W, 16-10 vs. Steelers)
WR Quincy Enunwa: Did Not Play (IR)

OL Alex Lewis: Started at left guard and played the entire game, while also contributing time during four special team snaps. Lewis helped the Jets 183 yards through the air and 85 yards on the ground.

G Brent Qvale: Participated in 10 plays offensively and was in for four special team snaps.

LB Will Compton: Started at middle linebacker and was in for every defensive snap, while also playing in 30 percent of the special team opportunities. Compton racked up a game-high 12 tackles on defense.

Baltimore Ravens (W, 31-15 at Browns) 
P Sam Koch: Punted twice for 102 yards, averaging 51.0 yards per punt. His longest boot of the day was 60 yards and he pinned the Browns inside their own 20 on one occasion.

   

   
Cincinnati Bengals (L, 38-35 at Dolphins)
TE Cethan Carter: Saw the field for 78 percent of the plays on special teams and was in for 21 offensive snaps. Carter was responsible for one tackle on special teams.

WR Stanley Morgan Jr.: Played in 54 percent of the special team snaps and was also in for 17 percent of the offensive opportunities. Morgan accounted for two tackles on special teams.

DL Freedom Akinmoladun: Participated in two plays defensively.  
AFC SOUTH


   

Jacksonville Jaguars (L, 24-12 at Falcons)
RB Devine Ozigbo: Competed in 40 percent of the special team snaps.

   

   

Tennessee Titans (L, 38-28 vs. Saints) 
CB Joshua Kalu: Saw action in 83 percent of the plays on special teams and recorded one tackle.

DT Maliek Collins: Started at defensive tackle and played the entire game, while also participating in three special team opportunities. Collins was totaled one tackle on special teams.

Philadelphia Eagles (W, 17-9 vs. Cowboys)
LB Nathan Gerry: Started at outside linebacker and was in for 74 percent of the plays defensively, was also seeing the field for 70 percent of the plays on special teams. Gerry had one kickoff return for 21 yards and racked up seven tackles (six defensively, one on special teams).


   

New York Giants (W, 41-35 at Redskins - OT)
OL Nick Gates: Saw the field for 76 percent of the offensive snaps, while also participating in six special team opportunities. Gates assisted the Giants in racking up 352 yards passing and 206 yards rushing.

Arizona Cardinals (W, 27-13 at Seahawks)
DB Chris Jones: Competed in 72 percent of the plays on defense, while also seeing action in 47 percent of the special team snaps. Jones was recorded three tackles and three pass deflections defensively.

Chicago Bears (L, 26-3 vs. Chiefs) 
DB Prince Amukamara: Started at corner and played in 59 percent of the snaps on defense. Amukamara tallied two tackles.

   

   

Minnesota Vikings (L, 23-10 vs. Packers) - Monday
RB Ameer Abdullah: Carried the ball four times for 27 yards and also caught six passes for 31 yards.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (L, 23-20 vs. Texans)
LB Lavonte David: Started at inside linebacker and played the entire game; also seeing the field for one special team snap. David piled up 10 tackles, one QB hurry and forced a fumble.
 
DT Ndamukong Suh: Started on the defensive line and was in for 86 of the defensive snaps, while also participating in one special team play. Suh recorded five tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass deflection.
