FORT WORTH, Texas -- Former Nebraska wrestlers Tyler Berger and T.J. Dudley competed at the 2019 United States Senior Nationals in Fort Worth, Texas, on Saturday.
Berger, a three-time All-American and 157-pound runner-up as a senior at the 2019 NCAA Championships, competed in the 74kg bracket of the Freestyle division. Following a first round bye, Berger defeated Carson Kharchla of the Titan Mercury Wrestling Club 17-7 in the Round of 32. Berger then fell to Chance Marateller, also of the Titan Mercury Wrestling Club, 6-4 in the Round of 16.
Dudley, a three-time All-American and 184-pound runner-up as a junior at the 2016 NCAA Championships, competed in the 86 kg bracket of the Freestyle division. Dudley defeated Jamarcus Thomas (Spartan Mat Club) 10-0 in the round of 32 before falling 12-2 to Nathan Jackson (New York Athletic Club) in the Round of 16.
The U.S. Senior Nationals are one of several Olympic Trials qualifier tournaments taking place in the leadup to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
