The Nebraska swimming and diving team is in the final stretch of it's trip in Missouri. After three strong days prior, the Husker's sit at fifth place in the Mizzou Invite standings.
In the preliminary races this morning, the team sent 13 swimmers to the finals this evening.
The most prolific race for the Husker swimmers was the 200 butterfly. Madison Coughlen led the charge, finishing in first place (1:58.59) and continuing what has been a very solid weekend for her. Maggie Berning was close behind, finishing in third place (2:00.07) and will race in the A-Final this evening with Coughlen. Kimberly Lanaghen was the next Husker, landing in ninth place (2:03.67). Berkeley Livingston will join Lanaghen in the B-Final race, as she finished in 11th (2:04.16). Taylor Acheson was next up, swimming to an 18th place finish (2:05.50) and Izzie Murray rounded out the group, finishing in 27th (2:10.53) and the last Husker qualifer for the race.
Senior Tori Beeler qualified once again, this time in the 200 breaststroke, as she swam to a good 10th place finish (2:17.30). Gwen Worlton and Gabby Baratta finished in a tight race and followed one after another, as Worlton placed 17th (2:19.63) and Baratta placed 18th (2:20.64).
In the 200 backstroke, Jessica Pentlarge was the first Husker to finish, racing to the 12th place spot (2:00.70). Pentlarge was followed by Lindsey Stalheim, who landed in 21st place (2:02.76) in the race.
The last qualifying race for the Husker swimmers was the 100 freestyle. Autumn Haebig landed in 14th place (50.81) after qualifying once again in the invitational. Carla Gonzalez made another appearance as well, swimming to a 17th place finish (51.11).
The Mizzou Invite participants will swim in the last finals races this evening, starting at 6 p.m.
