Huskers Sign South Dakota Native Lundin

Lincoln, Neb. --- One of the top junior golfers in South Dakota history, Jack Lundin, has chosen Nebraska and is a prominent piece to Head Coach Mark Hankins' 2020 class.

"Jack is a great player with numerous accolades and accomplishments.  He has continued to improve throughout his junior career and is the top player out of South Dakota and one of the top ranked players in the country.  Winning the High School State Championship, State Junior Championship and the State Men's Amateur all in the same year is an outstanding accomplishment. We believe he has a big upside and look forward to having Jack join our Husker Golf program in the fall," said Coach Hankins.

Lundin, a Sioux Falls, SD, native, ranked #61 in the country by AGORA golf rankings, is a two-time high school state champion for the Roosevelt Rough Riders. It did not take long for Lundin to make his name known in the South Dakota golf world as he won the AA state championship as an eighth grader. Lundin would be a state-runner up his sophomore season before winning a second state championship in 2019. This past summer, Lundin became the youngest player in South Dakota history to win the Men's State Amateur Championship with rounds of 73-68-68 = 209 (-7) total. He also won the South Dakota Junior Amateur Championship in both 2018 and 2019. He recorded four top six finishes in the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) and finished second in the Midwest Junior Championships in June which led to a #1 ranking in the state of South Dakota and top 100 rankings in the other national rankings.

Lundin chose Nebraska over South Dakota State, South Dakota and Grand Canyon University because of the academic support, the coaches, and the facilities.

In the classroom, Lundin boasts a 3.62 gpa at Roosevelt High School and is an honor roll student.
