Huskers Sign Alexis Buchert

Lincoln, Neb. - The Nebraska bowling team announced the addition of Alexis Buchert on Monday. Buchert joins the Huskers from William H. Taft High School in San Antonio, Texas.

Even as an accomplished bowler, Nebraska was the only program where Buchert made an official visit.

"I chose Nebraska because I want to compete for and learn from the most successful program in NCAA Women's College Bowling."

Buchert brings in a wealth of accomplishments from her high school resume. The Texas native currently holds a high game of 299 and a high series of 715.

After qualifying for state in both team and singles her freshman year, she finished as a state team quarterfinalist as well. Buchert holds the title of 2018 Texas High School All-District Team Champion and managed to qualify for state in singles in the same season.

As a junior, Buchert qualified for state in both singles and team. She was the number one singles qualifier, landing in the championships bracket and finishing the state tournament as a quarterfinalist.

Buchert also claimed the title of Texas Pepsi State Bowling Champion in 2015, 2016, and 2017. In 2018, Buchert placed third in the under 20 category at the Storm Youth Championships. She also qualified for the Junior Gold Championships in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.

In each season she has competed she has been named to the Academic All-District First Team. As a multi-sport athlete, she lettered four times in bowling as well as three times in track and twice in cross country.

"Nebraska Bowling is extremely pleased to add Alexis Buchert to our Husker Family," said Head Coach Paul Klempa. "Alexis is an excellent player and student, both in the classroom and on the lanes. She has very caring and supportive parents that we also welcome to our Husker Family. Alexis has a very bright future at Nebraska and we are all excited she has agreed to join us starting in the fall of 2020."

Buchert intends to pursue a pre-health major once arriving on campus.
