Lincoln, Neb. --- York, NE, native, Reed Malleck, will be staying close to home, as the #1 ranked golfer in the state of Nebraska for the class of 2020 signed with Head Coach Mark Hankins and the Husker Men's Golf program during the early signing period.
"Reed had a great summer and has continued to grow as a player and an athlete. He has all the physical attributes to be a great player for us and will be a leader on and off the golf course. We are excited to get started and help to guide his progress over the next four years as a Husker," said Coach Hankins.
Ranked as the #1 player in the Class of 2020 in the state of Nebraska, Malleck boasts one of the best careers in York Duke golf history. Malleck currently holds the competitive course record at York Country Club after shooting a 62 (-8), which also set the 18-hole high school meet record this past year. Malleck has tallied six high school invitational victories and 13 runner-up finishes. Malleck was a first-team Nebraska Super-State selection in 2019 and was the top point scorer at the Nebraska vs Kansas Junior Cup Matches. Malleck is a four-time letterwinner in golf and is also a two-time letterwinner for York Dukes basketball team.
"I have always loved Nebraska," Malleck said. "I think Coach Hankins and Coach Balak are going to raise the program to new heights, and I want to be a part of that."
Off the golf course, Malleck is a member of the National Honor Society, an honor roll student with a 3.95 GPA and was voted class president his junior and senior years. Malleck plans on majoring in Finance.
