Huskers Hosting Big Ten Individual Championships

The Nebraska men's tennis team will be hosting the Big Ten Individual Championships this weekend at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center. Action will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, and run through Sunday, Nov. 3.  

The entire Huskers roster will be competing with two exceptions: Senior Chris Dean will not participate while sophomore transfer Bradley Mittleman will only compete in doubles.  

The tournament starts Friday morning with two rounds of doubles and two rounds of singles. There will be one round of doubles and two rounds of singles on Saturday followed by one round each of singles and doubles on Sunday. 

The Big Ten Championships will feature 38 players from seven different Big Ten schools, with a main singles and doubles draw in addition to consolation draws for each. Nebraska will join Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State and Wisconsin at the event. No team scores will be kept.

Nebraska comes off a successful weekend at the ITA Central Regional Championships in Norman, Okla. Overall, the Huskers won 13 singles matches and eight doubles contests. In singles competition, sophomore Victor Moreno Lozano advanced to the Round of 16. In doubles play, the pairing of sophomore Patrick Cacciatore and freshman Albert Sprlak-Puk advanced all the way to the quarterfinals while Moreno Lozano and fellow sophomore William Gleason made it to the Round of 16.
