Norman, Okla. – The Nebraska women's tennis team wrapped up day one of competition at the ITA Central Regionals. Three Huskers competed in qualifying singles matches for the Big Red including Jessica Aragon, Ellie Kuckelman, and Emma Worley.
Ellie Kuckelman impressed in her Husker debut. The freshman dominated her way through the opening rounds of qualifying singles play. In the first round, she swept Paulina Engback of Central Arkansas 6-0, 6-0 and moved on to defeat Victoria Bronzetti of Bradley University 6-2, 6-3 in the second round.
Jessica Aragon will join Kuckelman in Friday's main draw after earning back-to-back wins on Thursday. The sophomore from Plano, Texas won 6-2, 7-5 in round one and 6-2, 6-3 in round two.
Emma Worley fell in her opening match but bounced back in the consolation bracket to defeat Allison Quammen of Arkansas State.
In doubles qualifications, Ellie Kuckelman and Emma Worley lost 8-5.
Main draw singles and main draw doubles will begin tomorrow at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
