Cam Taylor-Britt
Sophomore, Defensive Back
On the process to prepare for Illinois

“Everybody had it in their mindsets to win on the road. It was a big test, our first Big Ten win so we had to start fast.”

On how to use the Illinois game to move forward
“We shouldn’t have even started the game like that. We added fuel to their fire, and we have to come out stronger than that. We can’t just let them go up 14-0 or anything like that. We have to come out strong. We have to come out clicking like we are supposed to. We can’t just let them get in the end zone easily. We have to play full speed.”

On the defense being on the field after those four offensive turnovers
“We are Blackshirt defense, so we want to go on the field. We don’t want our offense to fumble, but when it’s our turn to go on the field then we’re up for it.”

On the shoulder bruise
“I was pretty sore. It was a football game and a pretty physical game, but I’m alright.”

On if he thought he’d miss any games
“No. Like I told everybody in the other interviews, I just recently lost my cousin and I know she would want to see me play, so I’m going to play.”

On how to attack this week
“I like being the underdog. We've got to come in and practice fast and practice hard. Like you said it’s a big game, but it’s just a football game. We've got to come out and play our ball.”

On the Ohio State game last season
“We lost by five points and I don’t want that to happen again."

On Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields
“He’s pretty good, he’s pretty good. He can run, pass, he can do it all."

On how to stop Fields and Ohio State
“We have to play our ball, Blackshirt defense and get turnovers. We've got to get to them and put that pressure on them. Overall, he’s a good quarterback and he can make some plays happen.”

On possibly surprising Ohio State last season
“We've just got to come in and hit them first. We can’t let them come in and have us down 14-0 because that’s momentum to them. We have to have to momentum. We’re in Memorial Stadium, it’s a big crowd, these are our fans and we've got to come in strong.”

On how to ignore extra distractions this week
“Stay laser-focused, be locked in. This shouldn’t have anything to do with us playing our game. College GameDay isn’t for us, it’s for our fans and we have another football game to play.”

On what has helped him get playing time at Nebraska
“Attention to detail. I just try to stay by the coaches. I try to make sure I’m doing my job right and I always try to watch extra film with them and better myself because you can always get better.”

On preparing beyond physical talent
“Getting mentally prepared for everything. I want to see the tendencies that the other team has. If your left foot is up, I want to know what route you’re going to run. Some of the NFL things Coach (Travis) Fisher teaches us, I just want to get that down.”

On wide receiver/running back Wan’Dale Robinson’s performance Saturday
“it was really time to let him off the leash. Not saying that he’s a dog or anything, but at the end of the day, he’s a dog. I’m so happy I recruited him. I was like ‘Yes!’ let him off the leash and let him play his ball. That is what we were expecting.”

On recruiting Wan’Dale Robinson
“It was pretty interesting. When he committed to Kentucky, I texted him immediately ‘what are you doing?’ I thought I did a great job, I stayed on him and let him know I always got your back, even if he would’ve gone to Kentucky. I tell all of the recruits that, of course, I want you to come here and I keep it real and genuine that’s how I am. I just let them know to make the right decision for you and when he [Wan’Dale] made that decision I just said let’s go win some games.”

On hosting recruits
“I love hosting. I get to know the kids a lot and I love being around them.”

On the message to Wan’Dale Robinson after Saturday’s performance
“I just told him it’s about time. The ball is rolling now, and you've got to stay on it and keep your foot on the pedal. Everybody is going to be on the lookout for this guy and that’s what you want, you want to be that target.”
