Scouting UMKC

The Kangaroos will play their first match of the season against the Huskers. UMKC finished its 2018 campaign with a 12-10 record, including a 5-0 mark in WAC play. The Roos return five letterwinners, while adding three freshman and a senior graduate student to the 2019 roster.
Series History
Nebraska has never lost a match against UMKC in 19 years of rivalry, as the Huskers hold a 9-0 all-time record over the Kangaroos. UMKC has visited Lincoln every season since 2015, with the most recent match being a 4-1 Husker win on Feb. 10, 2018 -- that win extended Nebraska's season-opening streak to six wins.

NU traveled to Dallas, Texas for a doubleheader at the SMU Tennis Complex on Saturday, Jan. 26. The Huskers swept the Northern Colorado Bears, 4-0, after losing to the SMU Mustangs, 5-2, earlier on the day.

Boyer, Klousia to Lead Huskers in 2019
Senior Toby Boyer and junior Micah Klousia return as a pair of strong assets to Nebraska’s lineup in 2019. In the fall, Boyer and Klousia earned a berth among the nation’s top 32 doubles teams, as they qualified for the ITA National Fall Championships, Nov. 7-8. Before that, the Husker duo produced an impressive 4-1 run at the ITA Central Regionals on Oct. 18-22. Boyer/Klousia upset the tournament’s No. 1 seed (Arkansas) before knocking off teams from Creighton and Tulsa to earn a spot among the event’s four best pairs.
Maymi Develops Stronger Non-Conference Schedule
As a starting point for a program turnaround in 2019, first-year head coach Sean Maymi developed a stronger non-conference schedule for the Huskers. Half of Nebraska’s opponents this year (six of 12) were ranked at the end of the 2018 season in ITA Division I rankings: Baylor (No. 17), Texas Tech (No. 36), Loyola Marymount (No. 55), Drake (No. 65) and Wichita State (No. 71). Last year, Nebraska did not face any ranked non-conference teams.
Huskers Welcome Five-Star Recruit to 2020 Roster
Head Coach Sean Maymi announced the signing of Andre Saleh to a National Letter of Intent on Nov. 15. Saleh will join the Nebraska men’s tennis team in 2019-20 as a freshman. A five-star recruit from Newport Beach, Calif., Saleh was ranked No. 13 in California and No. 15 in the Southwest region in Head Recruiting Lists. Nationally, he was ranked as high as No. 52.
