Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska women’s tennis program has added Jeremy Bayon as the new assistant coach, Head Coach Scott Jacobson announced on Friday.
Bayon played his collegiate tennis at Mississippi State from 1997-2000 and was instrumental in leading the Bulldogs to a semi-final appearance in the 1998 NCAA championships.
During his time as a player, Bayon received national recognition on both the doubles and singles court; reaching a national ranking of No. 5 in doubles and No. 40 in singles.
As a coach, his longest tenure was with the University of Florida men’s tennis program. Jeremy assisted Head Coach Andy Jackson with the program for nine years. During that time, the Gators were a powerhouse that ranked in the top ten nationally for eight of those nine years.
In addition, Bayon was the founder and director of the “Junior Elite Tennis Academy” from 2012 to 2015. Bayon is a USPTA Certified Elite Professional Coach.
"I am honored to be joining the Husker family as the assistant women's tennis coach. I am excited about the future of Nebraska tennis and look forward to working with Head Coach Scott Jacobson and helping our student-athletes play at the highest level of collegiate tennis," Bayon said. "I am committed to helping recruit and develop strong, high achieving Husker student-athletes that will represent the University on the court, in the classroom and in the community."
Head Coach Scott Jacobson commented on the new hire, “Jeremy is a worker and is committed to helping and supporting our program become it’s very best! He is ready to hit the ground running in all aspects of our program." Jacobson added, "I feel incredibly fortunate to have found someone with the skill set that Jeremy possesses both as a player and coach. His knowledge base is strong, and his work ethic as a lead recruiter will be evident in the near future.”
