Husker Rifle Shooters Qualify for World Cup

The Husker Rifle team continued its impressive summer by qualifying four shooters for the ISSF World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Samantha Peterson, a senior, qualified in Smallbore, and Macey Way, an incoming freshman from Colorado Springs, qualified in Air Rifle. Head Coach Rachel Martin qualified, and assistant coach Mindy Miles qualified as well. Miles will not be competing due to her recent return from the Pan-American Games.

Martin was excited and proud of her team's preseason achievements. "No other school had this many athletes qualify [for the World Cup]," she said. As a group, the Husker Rifle team has put together an impressive summer across the world, competing at many prestigious international tournaments, with the World Cup one of the most important global shooting competitions.

The World Cup is scheduled for August 26 - September 3.
