The Nebraska soccer team hosts the Omaha Mavericks in an exhibition match on Saturday, starting at 7:05 p.m. (CT) at Barbara Hibner Stadium. Admission is free and seating is general admission for the exhibition contest. Fans can also follow the action via Twitter (@NebraskaSoccer) or via live stats on Huskers.com.

Kicking Off

• Senior defender Sinclaire Miramontez earned a spot on the 2019 Women’s MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, announced by the United Soccer Coaches on Aug. 1. Miramontez is one of 57 student-athletes named to the watch list. The award honors the national player of the year as selected by the United Soccer Coaches.

• Nebraska continues its tradition of playing a strong schedule in 2019. This year’s slate features games against 10 NCAA Tournament qualifiers from last season, including four that advanced to the Sweet 16 and two that reached the Elite Eight.

• Each of the first five games of the regular season are against 2018 NCAA Tournament participants. During Big Ten play, five of Nebraska’s 11 conference opponents qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season.

• Four of Nebraska’s 2019 opponents earned spots in the preseason United Soccer Coaches poll, released on Aug. 6. The teams are USC (5), Penn State (6), Baylor (14) and Wisconsin (16).

• The Huskers have nine regular-season home games scheduled for their fifth season at Barbara Hibner Stadium in 2019. During each of the first four years at Hibner Stadium, the Huskers welcomed an average of more than 1,000 fans per home game. NU has ranked in the top 25 nationally and in the top two of the Big Ten in average attendance during all four years at the venue.

• The Huskers took an international trip this summer when they visited Scotland from June 11-23. The team won each of its five games and also explored different parts of the country, including Stirling, Forfar, Glasgow, St. Andrews and Edinburgh.

• Nebraska went 4-1 during the spring season with wins over Drake (4-0), Omaha (6-0), Minnesota (4-0) and Missouri (1-0) before falling in the spring finale to Colorado (1-0).

• Nebraska returns two All-Big Ten performers from last season, seniors Sinclaire Miramontez and Savanah Uveges. Miramontez is a two-time first-team all-conference selection despite spending the last four games of the 2018 season sidelined with an injury. Uveges, a third-team honoree in 2018, tied for the team high in points (20) last season and produced the second-most goals on the team (8).

• Senior Brenna Ochoa has led the Huskers in assists during each of the last two seasons. Ochoa compiled eight assists last season to tie for first in the Big Ten after notching six assists in 2017.

• Senior goalkeeper Aubrei Corder ranks in the top five of several career goalkeeping record lists at Nebraska and looks to continue climbing those lists this season. She has compiled 187 saves (fourth), 29 wins (fifth), 23.2 shutouts (third), 5,922 minutes (third), 62 starts (third) and 62 games played (third).

Scouting the Omaha Mavericks

• Omaha went 8-11-2 last season and posted a 4-3-1 record in Summit League play to finish fourth in the conference.

• At the Summit League Tournament, Omaha defeated South Dakota State in the semifinals, but fell to Denver in the final to come up short of an NCAA Tournament bid.

• The Mavericks posted a 6-1-1 record in home games in 2018.

• Omaha and Nebraska have never met in a regular-season game.

• Following its exhibition match against Nebraska, Omaha visits Kansas on Aug. 16 for an exhibition game before opening its regular season on Aug. 23 against Illinois State.

• Head Coach Tim Walters is 14-21-3 in his third season overall at Omaha. He is assisted by Kelly Farrell, Ava Doetsch and Denzel Woods.

• Players to Watch

  • #20 Bailey Cascio (Junior F): Scored a team-high seven goals last season and led the team with 17 points
  • #8 Andrea Daves (Junior MF): Scored one goal and added a team-high six assists last season
  • #1 Erin Bunker (Senior GK): Compiled a team-high 57 saves last season, while recording four shutouts and a 1.40 goals-against average
