Huskers Begin Spring Invite with Hammer Throw

The Nebraska track and field team began its outdoor home opener with the hammer throw at the Husker Spring Invitational this afternoon at Ed Weir Stadium.

James Joycey and Anna Purchase led the Huskers with a pair of fifth place finishes in the event. Joycey had a PR with a mark of 196-7 (59.92m) in the men's throw, while Purchase recorded a distance of 188-1 (57.33m) in the women's event.

Nebraska will continue hosting the Spring Invitational on Saturday with field events beginning at 11:30 a.m. and action on the track starting at 1 p.m.
