Huskers Claim Four Titles at Crimson Tide Invite

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Nebraska track and field team took home four event titles at the Crimson Tide Invitational on Friday.

Both the men's and women's team won two events each. The women's squad took home the gold medals in the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles. The men's team won the 3,000-meter steeplechase crown and the 4x400-meter relay title.

Jasmine Barge and Chanel Freeman entered the day ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the Big Ten in the 100-meter hurdles and they finished 1-2 in that event. Barge ran a time of 13.35 to win the 100-meter hurdle title, while Freeman finished in a time of 13.53 to finish as the runner-up. Barge's time is tied for the No. 5 non-wind-aided time on the NU top-10 list.

Barge followed up her performance by setting a new Crimson Tide Invitational meet record in the 400-meter hurdles. Barge ran a time of 58.38 to win, beating the previous record of 58.92. Michaela Peskova finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 59.22.

Sadio Fenner won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a new PR time of 9:32.55.

The Nebraska 4x400-meter relay team was also victorious with a season-best time of 3:08.09 to win the title.

Luke Siedhoff was the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.91.

The Nebraska 4x100-meter relay teams set the tone early on the track for the second consecutive week. The women's relay team finished third with a time of 45.32. The men's squad followed and also finished third with a season-best time of 40.06.

Lakayla Harris and Bailey Timmons placed third in their respective events. Harris was third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.53. Timmons set a PR in the men's 1,500 meter run and finished third with a time of 3:57.67.

On the field, the Nebraska pole vaulters went 2-3 in both sections. On the women's team, Nicole Baker and Andy Jacobs both went over 12-8 1/4 (3.87m) to finish second and third, respectively. In the men's section, Garrison Hughes (second) and Kevin Cahoy (third) both cleared 16-8 3/4 (5.10m).

Burger Lambrechts Jr. was the runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 61-2 3/4 (18.66m). 

Alex Meyer and Nick Coghill both placed third in their respective sections of the discus throw. Meyer earned a mark of 167-0 (50.90) in the women's section, while Coghill had a throw of 171-2 (52.17) in the men's discus throw.

Jonathan Miller was second in the triple jump with a leap of 52-1 3/4 (15.89m)w. Miles Griffith finished third in the high jump, soaring over 7-0 1/4 (2.14m).

The Huskers are split up at four different meets next week: Kansas Relays, Mt. SAC Relays, Bryan Clay Invitational and Beach State Invitational.
