The Nebraska track and field team resumed competition at five meets across the country on Friday. The Huskers achieved four all-time top-10 marks in school history on the day.
At the Texas Relays, Husker junior Chase Wolinski won the javelin title with a personal-best throw of 177-0 (53.96m). Her mark ranks sixth in school history and fourth in the nation this season.
Andy Jacobs set a pole vault personal best with a clearance of 13-9 3/4 (4.21m) to finish eighth in the early section. Her mark is the fifth-best outdoor pole vault in school history.
The Husker distance runners competed at the Stanford Invitational. George Kusche finished second in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:43.83, the No. 8 time in school history. Judi Jones ran a 3,000-meter steeplechase PR and the No. 7 time in school history, 10:33.41, to finish fourth in her section.
Miles Griffith was the top finisher in section B of the high jump at the Texas Relays. Griffith set a new personal best in his first outdoor meet as a Husker, clearing 7-1 1/2 (2.17m). Burger Lambrechts won his section of the discus with a mark of 178-2 (54.30m), also a personal best. Elijah Lucy finished second in his long jump section with a jump of 24-9 3/4 (7.56m).
Kristina Insingo finished fifth in section B of the shot put with a personal-best mark of 49-4 1/2 (15.05m). Candice Dominguez was sixth in the early section of the high jump, clearing 5-7 1/4 (1.71m).
Luke Siedhoff finished sixth in 110-meter hurdles qualifying with a time of 14.00. He will race in the nine-man final on Saturday afternoon.
At the Florida Relays, Jasmine Barge placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.82, the seventh-fastest time in the nation this season. Chanel Freeman ran a season-best time of 13.77 in the 100-meter hurdles to finish 17th.
At the Bobcat Invitational, Anna Purchase took 10th in the hammer throw with a mark of 184-7 (56.28m).
Late at night at the Mike Fanelli Classic, Bailey Timmons set a 5K PR of 14:36.45 to finish 55th.
On Saturday, action picks up at 10 a.m. at the Texas Relays, at Noon at the Bobcat Invitational and at 1:40 p.m. at the Florida Relays.
