The Nebraska women’s bowling team heads to Milwaukee, Wis., this Friday through Sunday to compete at the Warhawk Invitational. The tournament is hosted by No. 21 Wisconsin-Whitewater at AMF West Lanes.
The Huskers are coming off a second-place finish at the Track Kat Klash in Houston, Texas on November 2-4. NU went 9-3 over the weekend, defeating four ranked teams before falling to No. 1 McKendree in the championship final. Meghan Straub led the Huskers for the second tournament in a row with her average of 226.6.
A total of 19 teams will compete for the tournament title in Milwaukee, including all five of the top five teams and seven of the top 10 teams. The list of ranked teams joining the Huskers includes No. 1 Vanderbilt, No. 2 McKendree, No. 4 Sam Houston State, No. 5 Arkansas State, No. 6 Stephen F. Austin, No. 9 Fairleigh Dickenson, No.15 Adelphi, No. 18 Central Missouri, No. 19 LIU Brooklyn, No. 21 Wisconsin-Whitewater and No. 22 Maryville. Youngstown State (RV), Lewis, Lincoln Memorial, Lincoln, Elmhurst, North Central and Valparaiso round out the list of teams competing.
Competition begins Friday morning at 11 a.m. with five sets of five-game Baker matches, followed by five traditional matches on Saturday morning, beginning at 9:25 a.m. Combined results from Friday and Saturday will determine the seeding for Sunday’s bracket-play championship tournament, in which each team will play three rounds of best-of-seven Baker matches beginning at 8:30 a.m.
