Iowa City, Iowa- The Nebraska swimming and diving team is in second place after the first day of the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa.
The Huskers started off the meet strong with a third-place performance in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Lindsay Helferich, Alli Kopas, Tori Beeler and Autumn Haebig in the lane (1:33.02).
Haebig followed with a fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4:48.27) and Beeler found a fourth-place win of her own in the 200-yard individual medley (2:01.64). Helferich came in seventh in the 50-yard freestyle (23.32).
On the diving front, All-American Abi Knapton represented the Huskers with a second-place performance in the one-meter dive with her score of 296.80, an NCAA Zone qualifying score.
The Big Red showed their strength in relays again with another third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay with Haebig, Beeler, Posthuma and Helferich in the pool (3:40.52).
The Huskers trail the University of Minnesota for first and will continue competition through Saturday, Nov 17.
