Notre Dame, Ind. -- Junior Micah Klousia and freshman Victor Moreno Lozano teamed up for a 7-6 (12-10) doubles win over David Mizrahi/Alex Wesbrooks (Louisville) on Sunday to conclude Nebraska's participation at the Bobby Bayliss Invitational, hosted by the University of Notre Dame.
Klousia, Moreno, and senior Jon Meyer represented the Huskers in Notre Dame, earning a total of three singles wins and one doubles win. Assistant Coach Tom Boysen commented on NU's performance over the weekend, and how it can help the team prepare before traveling to Tulsa, Okla. on Oct 18-22 for the ITA Central Regional Championships.
“We played a lot of very close, competitive matches throughout the weekend,” Boysen said. “In general, I was pleased with our willingness to stick to our game plans and trust our strengths regardless of the situation. There are always many takeaways from these events, and we will get back to work this week in practice as we prepare for Regionals in two weeks.”
Later on Sunday, Moreno lost a hard-fought three-set match to Eric Olivarez (Western Michigan), 2-6, 7-5, (14-12), and Meyer dropped a 6-2, 6-1 contest to Nick Schnobel (Western Michigan).
