The Nebraska bowling team travels to Houston, Texas, this Friday through Sunday for the Track Kat Klash at Emerald Lanes. The tournament is hosted by No. 4 Sam Houston State.
The Huskers are coming off a tournament win at the Bearcat Hammer Open where they went 13-0 and defeated top-ranked Vanderbilt in the championship match on Sunday, Oct. 28. Senior Meghan Straub led the Big Red with her average of 226.2.
A total of 18 teams will compete this weekend in Texas, including 12 of the top 25 teams and three teams receiving votes in the National Tenpin Coaches Association 2017-18 Preseason Poll. The list of teams joining the Huskers in Houston this weekend includes No. 2 McKendree, No. 4 Sam Houston State, No. 5 Arkansas State, No. 6 Stephen F Austin, No. 7 Maryland Eastern Shore, No. 10 Tulane, No. 16 UAB, No. 17 Louisianna Tech, No. 22 Maryville, No. 23 Monmouth, No. 25 Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M (RV), Alabama State (RV), Youngstown State (RV), Alabama A&M, Grambling and Southern.
Competition begins Friday morning at 9:55 a.m. (CT) with five sets of five-game Baker matches, followed by five traditional matches on Saturday morning, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Combined results from Friday and Saturday will determine the seeding for Sunday’s bracket-play championship tournament, in which each team will play three rounds of best-of-seven Baker matches, beginning at 8:20 a.m.
