Bethune-Cookman Player Postgame Quotes
Nebraska vs. Bethune-Cookman
Memorial Stadium (Lincoln, Neb.)
Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018

Alfred Adams
Senior, Running Back
On if he expected to score a touchdown
“Honestly yeah I did, I was ready for it. What we do in practice, I got reps with the first team so I knew my opportunity would come seeing a team like Nebraska. So in the first half of the game, I was doing my best to be a cheerleader cheering the guys on in front of me then when the fourth quarter came and time (was) running down, I was up and (had) my opportunity and I knew I had to strike then so I did.”

On if the experience of playing at Nebraska was different than other places he’s played
“Definitely, the crowd. There’s 90,000 people out there, everyone excited, student section, all the fans, their fans were cheering us on before the game even started. They were very friendly and honestly I’m not used to that. Usually other fans are like ‘oh, boo’, ‘you suck’ but they were very welcoming.”

On what he was thinking when the fans were cheering for him
“I was confused. I didn’t understand why at first, I didn’t know if they were fake or mocking us or what, but soon I realized they were just encouraging us and it was love because we didn’t have any fans here so it was love the whole game.”

On if fans clapping for the team as they walked off the field surprised him
“No, because by then every quarter, beginning of pregame, halftime, they’re clapping for us. It’s just a lot of love.”

On the competitive spirit of his team despite the score
“I just know us as a team we practice every day hard. I’ve been with this team four years (and) I see guys pull through. I see them about to give up but then find something deep inside themselves and they pull through. I just know us as a team, we’re going to keep fighting (no) matter if we’re down, we keep fighting.”

Uriel Hernandez
Senior, Kicker/Punter
On the experience of playing this game and handling punting and kicking duties
“Honestly, like me a kid from Homestead (Florida) - I don’t even know if you know where Homestead is - this was a great experience, wonderful and fun. When my number was called, I had to pull through and keep my team on my back and that’s what I did.”

On if he and his teammates had fun
“Yeah, I mean we come out here all the way from Daytona Beach, you’ve got to have fun. But at the same time, you’ve got to know you’ve got to play. I mean, you make plays (so) you can say you can have fun.”
