Lincoln – Junior transfer Dachon Burke Jr. made the most of his lone Pinnacle Bank Arena appearance of the season, scoring a game-high 10 points as the Red squad downed the White team, 36-17, in front of a crowd of 3,700 Thursday evening.
Burke, a 6-foot-4 guard who averaged 17.6 points per game last season at Robert Morris, had five of his points in a 14-0 run to provide the Red squad a lead they would not relinquish. Burke will sit out the 2018-19 season and will be eligible next season.
Glynn Watson Jr. and Isaiah Roby chipped in nine and six points, respectively, for the winning squad, while sophomore Nana Akenten paced the White squad with six points, as the event featured a 16-minute scrimmage.
The Huskers practiced for about an hour in front of the fans before the 2018-19 team was introduced for the first time. The scrimmage also featured play-by-play from Kent Pavelka from the Husker Sports Network and Husker coaches, as well as a contest for the fan who hit the most 3-pointers in 45 seconds.
The Huskers’ lone exhibition game is set for next Thursday, Nov. 1, against Wayne State. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
