Huskers Wrap Up First Day at Ivy Plus Invitational

Princeton, N.J. -- Four Huskers saw action for the first time on the season in the first day of competition at the Ivy Plus Invitational, hosted by Princeton University, in Princeton, N.J.

In doubles play, senior Toby Boyer and freshman William Gleason teamed up to beat Matt Rodriguez/Taine Bernhard (Oklahoma), 8-4, in the Silver draw. In the semifinals, Boyer and Gleason lost a tough match to Davey Roberts/Will Peters (Princeton), 8-3. The pair will fight for third place against the Wisconsin duo of Martim Vilela/Daniel Nuzhny on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. CT (8:30 a.m. ET).  

In the Gold bracket, Micah Klousia and Chris Dean fell short in their first two matches of the day, losing to Justin Barki/Bill Duo (Princeton), 8-4, and to Jake Hansen/Pietro Rimondini (Cornell), 8-6.

Boyer started singles play with a hard-fought win against Joseph Thomas (LSU), 7-5, 6-4. Gleason fell to Kabir Sarita (Princeton) in a tough 6-3, 6-3. Later on, Klousia played three sets to overcome Ching Lam (Brown), in a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory. In the last singles match of the day, Dean lost 6-3, 6-1 to Peter Conklin (Dartmouth).

Boyer will face Ryan Seggerman (Princeton) in the quarterfinals of the Tiger draw on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. CT (8:30 a.m. ET). Gleason will play Alan Sou (Yale) at 9 a.m. CT (10 a.m. ET) in the Jadwin Red draw, while Klousia faces Bill Duo (Princeton) at the same time in the Nassau bracket quarterfinals. Finally, Dean draws up against Davis Wong (Michigan State) at 9 a.m. CT (10 a.m. ET) in the Cordish Red draw. 

Two rounds of singles will be played Saturday starting at 7:30 a.m. CT (8:30 a.m. ET), without any doubles action. On Sunday, one round of doubles and the final round of singles will be played, also starting at 7:30 a.m. CT (8:30 a.m. ET).
