SAAC Kick-Starts the 2018-19 School Year

On Sunday, August 26th, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) kicked off the school year with a SAAC retreat. To start the retreat, SAAC representatives were able to loosen up with some bowling and pizza. They then headed upstairs to learn about how to effectively communicate with each other through a DiSC Assessment Workshop led by Ashley Stone. All of the reps agreed that they learned a lot about not only each other, but themselves as well.

Ethan Frazier, a representative for the sport of baseball said, “Understanding the differences in the personalities of various individuals is so important to having successful communication. The DiSC assessment really let us get into the meat of the issue and helped to foster a better space for sharing ideas.”

Following the workshop, the representatives, led by SAAC President, Anton Stephenson, talked about their vision for the group this year. Stephenson remarked, “I was very impressed by the enthusiasm and passion our SAAC representatives brought to our retreat. I already feel very connected with this group, and I believe our commitment to each other and the goals of this committee will lead to ample productivity in the upcoming school year.”
