Sacramento, Calif. - The Nebraska track and field team added three more national qualifiers on Friday on the second day of the NCAA West Preliminary Round at Hornet Stadium, bringing their total number of qualifiers to six with one day remaining at the regional.
The Huskers added a pair of NCAA qualifiers in the men's discus, as senior Nick Percy placed second with a throw of 190-10 (58.17m), while junior Carlos Davis took third with a PR throw of 188-1 (57.32m). Percy, the 2016 NCAA discus champion, will be making his fourth appearance at the NCAA Championships in the event. He also qualified for nationals in the hammer throw on Thursday.

Davis, who is also a defensive lineman on Nebraska's football team, sat 15th after two throws, but came up with a lifetime best on his final throw to advance to the NCAA Championships for the first time.

Moujtaba Mohammed earned Nebraska's first bid to Eugene on the track, as he earned automatic qualification in the 800-meter run by finishing third in his quarterfinal heat with a time of 1:48.88. Mohammed was in sixth place with just 200 meters to go, but finished strong on the homestretch to earn his first individual bid to the NCAA Championships.

In preliminary races Friday, both Luke Siedhoff and Antoine Lloyd qualified for the next round in the men's 110-meter hurdles, as Siedhoff placed second in his heat and fourth overall with a time of 13.72, while Lloyd won his heat and was fifth-fastest in qualifying with a time of 13.79. Siedhoff's time matched his personal best set at the Big Ten Championships two weeks ago.
In the men's 400-meter hurdles quarterfinal, Andy Neal took fifth in his heat and 13th overall with a season-best time of 50.71, but just missed qualification to the NCAA Championships by .01 of a second.
In addition to Percy's bid in the hammer throw, Brittni Wolczyk (javelin) and Raynesha Lewis (long jump) qualified to the NCAA Championships on Thursday, the first day of competition at the regional.
The final day of competition at the NCAA West Preliminary Round begins Saturday at 2 p.m. (CT) with field events, while running events start at 8:00 p.m. The Huskers have 12 field event athletes, three relay teams and two hurdlers (Lloyd and Siedhoff) attempting to qualify for the NCAA Championships on Saturday.
