Reno, Nevada – Many former Huskers competed in the 2018 USBC Queens Tournament over the weekend at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nevada.

The tournament began with 191 participants before the list narrowed to 64 players with 15 games of qualifying. The 64 players advanced to a double-elimination match play competition.

Shannon Pluhowsky led the group of Huskers in the final standings, finishing 14th with an average of 214.58. Pluhowsky began the tournament by defeating Giselle Poss, 631-549. However, her loss to Stefanie Johnson (758-738) in the second round of match-play sent her to the elimination bracket. Pluhowsky rebounded in the elimination bracket, taking down Verity Crawley (605-684), fellow former Husker Erin McCarthy (704-657), and Dena Buxton (630-606), before falling to Sydney Brummett (666-568) on Monday morning.

Diandra (Hyman) Asbaty also had an impressive showing in Reno, taking down Jakie Carbonetto (571-640) and fellow former Husker Stephanie Casey (651-637) before Anna Andersson defeated her 677-533, sending her to the elimination bracket. Asbaty fell to Brandi Branka, 600-582, on Sunday, finalizing her 20th place finish.
