Breske, Labriola in Semifinals at Junior Nationals

Las Vegas, Nev. - Nebraska redshirt sophomore Beau Breske and redshirt freshman Mikey Labriola both advanced to the semifinals at 79 kg on Friday after the first day of competition at the Marine Corps UWW Men's Freestyle Junior Nationals at South Point Arena.

Both wrestlers went 4-0 on the day. Labriola was arguably one of the most impressive wrestlers on the first day of the tournament, as he won all four of his matches by technical fall and a combined score of 57-14. Breske won one pin and one technical fall, along with a pair of decisions.

Breske will face Aaron Brooks of TMWC/EAP in Saturday's semifinals, while Labriola will face NCAA qualifier Matthew Finesilver of Duke and Blue Blood Wrestling Club.

Redshirt freshman Christian Miller wrestled at 61 kg, but did not place after going 1-2. Redshirt sophomores Caleb Licking (70 kg) and Johnny Blankenship (74 kg) both went 2-2, but did not place.

Wrestlers with Husker ties also competed at the Marine Corps U.S. Senior Freestyle Nationals in Las Vegas, with a pair of NU alums and a Nebraska Wrestling Training Center athlete all still alive in the consolation bracket.

Three-time All-American TJ Dudley went 2-1 on the day at 86 kg, but fell to two-time NCAA champion David Taylor of Nittany Lion Wrestling Club in the semifinals. Dudley will wrestle in the consolation semifinals on Saturday.

Four-time NCAA qualifier at NU and current Purdue volunteer assistant coach Jake Sueflohn also reached the semifinals at 74 kg, but fell to NCAA champion Isaiah Martinez of TMWC. Sueflohn will wrestle in the consolation semifinals on Saturday.

Dom Bradley, who trains in Lincoln at the NWTC and is currently ranked second at 125 kg in the nation, reached the semifinal round but fell to Adam Coon of NYAC/MWC by criteria, 3-3. Bradley will wrestle in Saturday's consolation semifinals.

NU alums Tim Lambert (57 kg) and Anthony Abidin (65 kg) both went 1-2 at the tournament.

Action in Las Vegas continues on Saturday, as the semifinals and consolation matches for the juniors and the consolation and place matches for the seniors start at 11 a.m. (CT).
