Knapton Qualifies for NCAA Championships

Minneapolis – All-American Abi Knapton qualified for the NCAA National Championships for the second consecutive year with her performance in the platform dive  on Wednesday at the NCAA Zone D Championships.

Knapton's bid to the nation meet marks the fifth straight season the Huskers have had a diver qualifty for the NCAA Championships under coach Natasha Chikina.

Knapton posted a score of 589.70, finishing second. With her finish on Wednesday, Knapton will also be able to compete in the 3-meter dive at nationals because she placed in the top 12 of that event on Tuesday.

Junior Katrina Voge also competed in the event and advanced to the finals, but was unable to qualify for nationals after finishing 18th with a score of 408.00.

Last year, Knapton notched the best finish ever for a diver in school history after capturing first-team All-America honors with her fourth-place finish on the platform at the 2017 NCAA Championships.

Knapton will be joined at nationals by freshman Autumn Haebig, who qualified in the 100-yard backstroke with her time of 52.29 at the Mizzou NCAA Qualifier.

The pair will head to Columbus, Ohio, to compete in the 2018 NCAA Championships March 14-17.
