Huskers Back on Track

Tucson, Ariz. -- The Nebraska men's tennis team improved to 7-1 with a win over Northern Arizona 6-1. The Huskers conclude a weekend trip to Arizona with a 1-1 record.

In doubles play, freshmen duo Isaac Nortey and William Grattan-Smith defeated Felix Schumann and Thomas Fisher 6-1. In the No. 1 position Toby Boyer and Linus Erhart fell to their opponents Tim Handel and Ruben Montano 6-4. Micah Klousia and Dylan Bednarczyk sealed the doubles point for the Huskers with a 7-5 win over Lucas Taylor and Sebastian Eguez.

In singles play, Grattan-Smith made quick work of Montano beating him 6-2, 6-1. Bednarcyzk fell to Taylor in the No. 2 position 6-3, 6-3. Erhart defeated Fisher 6-2, 6-3. In the No. 4 position Klousia defeated Chris Steele 6-3, 6-2. Boyer went up against Handel and came out on top 3-6, 6-4, 11-9. Nortey rounded out singles play for the Huskers with a win over Schumann 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

The Big Red is back in action with a road match against Denver on Sunday, February 25 at 11 a.m. The team will return home Saturday, March 3 for a match against Northern Illinois at 6 p.m.
