Haraden Finishes with Career Best in Puerto Rico

Rio Grande, P.R. - Jessica Haraden completed the best three-round tournament of her Nebraska career with a 230 to lead the Husker women's golf team through the final round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Tuesday.

Haraden, a sophomore from Thousand Oaks, Calif., completed her strong tournament with a final-round 78 to close her 54 holes on the par-71, 5,981-yard layout of the Ocean Course at the Rio Mar Country Club in a tie for 26th.

Haraden matched fellow sophomore Kate Smith's 78 for the best round among the six Husker golfers on Tuesday. Smith finished with a three-round total of 236 to tie for 43rd in the 66-player field.

The rest of the Huskers struggled on Tuesday, as sophomore Annie Sritragul managed Nebraska's third-best round with an 83. She finished in 60th with a three-round total of 247. Freshman Hannah Thiele added NU's No. 4 score in the six-count-four format with an 84. Thiele closed the tournament in 64th at 251. 

Fellow freshman Noor Ahmed produced Nebraska's No. 3 individual tournament finish in a tie for 55th at 240 despite a final-round 86. Sophomore Haley Thiele added an 85 on Tuesday to finish 66th at 259.

No. 4 Arkansas fired the day's best round with a 296 to claim the team title with an 882, 10 strokes ahead of No. 26 Iowa State at 892. No. 22 Kent State finished third at 897. Nebraska finished 11th in the team race at 951 after closing with a 323 on Tuesday. The hosts from Purdue finished 10th at 921, while Maryland took ninth at 916 to round out the Big Ten teams in the 11-team field.

Maria Fassi from Arkansas captured medalist honors with a three-over-par three-round total of 216. Iowa State's Celia Barquin Arozamena was the runner-up at 219.

Nebraska returns to action at the Westbrook Spring Invitational in Peoria, Ariz., Feb. 25-26.
