Annapolis, Md. -- The Nebraska rifle team fired its highest aggregate score of the season in a 4,682-4,655 victory over Navy. The effort was enough to set a new season-high aggregate score for the Huskers.
The Huskers started off strong in smallbore, led by Hannah Virga’s score of 586 and Samantha Peterson’s mark of 582. These scores were Virga’s and Peterson’s second-highest smallbore scores of the season. Dacotah Faught also contributed to the effort with 578. Nina Radulovic and Emily Cheramie both brought in a solid score of 574 to round out the scoring team. Although not squadded, Kayla Gadeken fired a mark of 578, tying her second-highest mark of the season. A team score of 2,320 was enough to tie the team’s season high in smallbore.
Nebraska widened the gap in air rifle, producing a score of 2,362. Dacotah Faught led the Huskers with her second-highest score of the season (595). Samantha Peterson was close behind with 591, tying her season high with the effort. Hannah Virga tied her second-highest air rifle score of the season with 589 and Nina Radulovic produced her second-highest air rifle score of the season with 587. Emily Cheramie rounded out the Huskers with 581. Kayla Gadeken fired 588 as a non-squadded member.
The Midshipmen fired a smallbore score of 2,308 as a team, led by Kestrel Kuhne’s score of 586. Thomas Sarant and Josh Watson each added scores of 570. A team air rifle score of 2,347 brought Navy’s aggregate score to 4,655. Kuhne led the team in air rifle with 592, assisted by Torrence Kang (587) Thomas Sarant (586).
The Huskers will reappear on the range tomorrow at 7 a.m. against the No. 11 NC State Wolfpack.
