Several former Huskers saw action in Week 17 of the NFL last Sunday, and a pair found the end zone as both Zaire Anderson (Broncos) and Ameer Abdullah (Lions) scored touchdowns for their respective teams.
Anderson recovered a Kansas City fumble and returned it 38 yards for a score to ignite Denver's comeback attempt against the Chiefs, but it ultimately fell short as Kansas City won, 27-24. The second-year linebacker also racked up four tackles, including one for a loss, on Sunday.
Abdullah scored his fourth rushing touchdown of the season on Sunday, as his seven yard score capped Detroit's 35-11 win over the Green Bay Packers.
On the offensive line, Richie Incognito (Bills) and Jeremiah Sirles (Vikings) started at guard and played every offensive snap to lead their teams to victories. Zach Sterup earned his first NFL start for the Dolphins in the Miami-Buffalo game, and played every offensive snap.
Sam Koch was consistent punting the ball for Baltimore, as he racked up an average of 41.6 yards on eight punts, with three punts downed inside the 20.
A total of six Huskers will be participating in the NFL Playoffs, as the Bills (Incognito and Brandon Reilly), Patriots (Rex Burkhead and Vincent Valentine), Eagles (Nathan Gerry) and Vikings (Sirles) all qualified for postseason play. The Bills will take on the Jaguars on Sunday, while New England, Philadelphia and Minnesota earned first-round byes.
