Rex Burkhead had another strong performance for the defending Super Bowl Champions, as he scored a pair of touchdowns on the ground to help New England to a 23-3 win and highlight the performances of former Huskers in the NFL in Week 13.
Burkhead racked up 78 yards and two touchdowns rushing on Sunday, including a career-long 31 yard run in New England's win over Buffalo. Burkhead also recorded 25 receiving yards to total over 100 yards of offense while wearing customized Team Jack Foundation cleats for the NFL's My Cause My Cleats Week in support of pediatric brain cancer research. The cleats will be auctioned, with proceeds going to the Team Jack Foundation.
With the two touchdowns on Sunday, Burkhead has now scored multiple times in two consecutive weeks, as he had a rushing and receiving touchdown in the Patriots' win over Miami in Week 12. Sunday was the second time that Burkhead scored multiple times in a game on the ground, a feat he also accomplished in Week 17 last season while playing for Cincinnati.
On the defensive side of the ball, Ndamukong Suh made four tackles to help Miami to a 35-9 win over Denver, while Lavonte David made seven stops for Tampa Bay and Prince Amukamara recorded four tackles for the Bears.
Maliek Collins recovered a fumble in the Cowboys' 38-14 win over Washington on Thursday night.
Sam Koch had another strong day punting the ball, as he averaged nearly 42 yards per punt, and pinned the Lions inside the 20-yard line twice in Baltimore's 44-20 win on Sunday.
